Plastic geogrid is a high-strength mesh geotechnical material made from polymers such as polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) through extrusion pressing, punching, and directional stretching processes. It belongs to the category of polymer mesh materials in geosynthetic materials and is mainly used in civil engineering fields such as highways, railways, dams, and tunnels.
The strength of this material is improved through the directional arrangement of molecular chains, the tensile property is close to the level of mild steel, the elongation is only 10% -15% of the original plate, and the corrosion resistance and aging resistance can be enhanced by adding carbon black. Divided into unidirectional and bidirectional types: Unidirectional tensile grating is made of HDPE as the substrate, which is stretched in a single direction to form a long elliptical mesh structure, suitable for longitudinal load-bearing scenarios such as roadbed reinforcement; Bidirectional stretching grids are stretched vertically and horizontally to form rectangular grids, which are suitable for reinforcing foundations such as airports and docks that require bidirectional loading. The two achieve stress diffusion through interlocking with the soil through mesh holes, which can reduce local load failure and decrease the thickness of structural layers.
Widely used in weak foundation reinforcement, slope protection, asphalt pavement reinforcement and other scenarios, it can improve the bearing capacity of the foundation and extend the service life of the project.
